I'm sick of everyone jumping on the Seahawks for trading Julian Peterson to the Lions for Redding. I'm sick of hearing "he was on the lions for christ sake". You people know nothing about football. Was he supposed to win those games by himself? Seriously, the Hawks last year went 4-12 and they havent overhauled the team. Just because he was on a crappy team doesnt mean that he himself isnt talented, this isnt basketball. So many other things come into play; coaching, scheme, other personel. So they were the worst team in history, that doesnt mean that they were the worst group of NFL players everr assembled. Here is some current and probable HOFers that were on terrible teams;
O.J. Simpson: 1971 Bills 1-13, Eric Dickerson: 1981 Colts 2-14, Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman 1989 Cowboys 1-15, Leroy Selmon: 1976 Buccaneers 0-14, Steve Largeant: 1976 Seahawks 1-13, Cortez Kennedy: 1992 Seahawks 2-14, Rodney Harrison and Junior Seau: 2000 Chargers 1-15, Steve Smith: 2001 Panthers 1-15.
Seriously, you cant judge a player by his teams single season performance and I cant wait till next season and the Hawks have a great rotation and win due their depth on the line a-la the giants. JP was awesome but I would rather have a stacked line than a great linebacking core. It starts at the line and that is the most valuable part of a defense. All of you that criticize this move will be proven wrong. The NFL today isnt so much about elite talent as it is about depth. The competitive teams have great depth expecially upfront; Steelers, Giants, Pats.
