ROY EUGENE WILLIAMS 6'4'' 210 Texas Longhorns

                              Receptions              Yards            Avg.            TDs

              2000              40                        809              20.2             8

              2001              78                        970              12.4             8

              2002              68                      1,284             18.9            13

              2003              70                      1.079             15.4              9

             Totals           256                      4,142             16.2            38

These numbers are much better then any of the top receivers in this years' draft. So, to trade a #1 and a #3 for him is more then worth it. Even without his 1,310 yard pro season, a trade to get this gem would be worth it. Let alone a pro bowl season. So much for the morons saying that Jerry doesn't have a clue. Roy Williams scored 4 other touchdowns rushing at Texas.

In his rookie season with Harrington as QB. Williams caught 54 passes for 817 yards and 15.1 average and 8 TDs with no QB. Here are Roy's numbers for his 2 year career with a real QB. knowing the system Jon Kitna.

                                        ROY WILLIAMS DETROIT LIONS

                               GMS.           REC.            YARDS           AVG.           TDs

    2006                    16              82               1,310            16.0             7

Roy Williams made the pro bowl his first year with Kitna being the starter. His biggest games were as follows...

vs. Packers 7 / 138          vs. Stl. 9 / 139    vs. Buffalo  10 / 161     vs. Atl.  6 /138

                                          vs. Mia.  6 /126       vs. Dallas 6 / 104

    2007                    12              64                 838              13.1            5

Williams was on pace for 1,117 yards in 07 before getting hurt in the 12th game. Roy missed 4 games that season.

The 08 season was marred by a poor Lion team and not learning the system in Dallas.

The real impressive thing for Roy is that the Lions were the worst team in the NFL in Roys' five seasons there. Williams put up nice numbers. What happens when your team is losing and behind? The defense knows you are going to pass. In 2006, Williams had six 100+ yard games on a 3-13 team. With a clean slate and Roy knowing hes the guy in Dallas, there is no reason to think Williams isn't a 1,000 yard receiver. Roy knows how to score himself with 42 touchdowns in college and 30 more in the pros. Williams' career includes two huge days vs. a strong Eagle defense,.. 2004  9/135 & 2007  9/204. Roy was born in Texas and Dallas' fans will think they died and went to heaven watching Roy Williams help them win the Super Bowl. To think or say different is just wishful thinking. Roy Williams is a star and he'll shine in 09!
