With the Playoffs set to go soon, here are my picks for the awards for the NHL:

Hart: Alex Ovechkin- Who cares if Malkin has the most points in the league? Pittsburgh was on its heels desperate for a spot. Though Geno did more for his team, Ovechkin has a lot of talent and some flare, just look at his 50th Goal celebration. I'm going for the repeat.

Art Ross: Evgeni Malkin (113 points)- This is his first Scoring Trophy.

Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy: Alex Ovechkin (56 Goals)- This is his second Goal Trophy.

Lady Byng Trophy: Pavel Datsyuk- This will be fourth straight time winning this, and why not?

James Norris: Mike Green- I want to say Nicky Lidstrom should win a seventh just for sake of argument, but it's good to see a blueliner score over 30 goals in a season. I could see in the future Green be a Paul Coffey type player, with a possibility of scoring 40 goals.

Frank J. Selke: Pavel Datsyuk- This will his second time winning this, and he could turn out to be just like former Red Wing Sergei Federov.

Vezina: Evgeni Nabokov- Why not? He is the goaltender on the San Jose Sharks, perhaps the best team in hockey this year, and forget Tim Thomas. The journeyman can't compare to Nabokov, who has a 41-12-8 record with 7 shutouts. This category will perhaps be dominated by fellow European Goalies Miikka Kiprusoff, Henrik Lundqvist, and/or Niklas Backstrom.

Calder: Steve Mason- This kid has singlehandedly led the Blue Jackets to their first playoff berth with a league-leading 10 shutouts.

Bill Masterton: Chris Chelios- Playing in the NHL at age 47? Gordie Howe anyone? Especially when he's playing for the Detroit Red Wings when their in the playoffs.

Jack Adams: Todd McLellan- A former assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings last year (they won the Cup), McLellan has led an impressive San Jose Sharks team to the President's Trophy, another Division Championship and possibly a cup.

Now, here are my Playoff Predictions

Eastern Conference:

Quarterfinals

Boston Bruins over Montreal Canadians by 5, 4-1
New York Rangers over Washington Capitals by 7, 4-3
New Jersey Devils over Carolina Hurricanes by 4, 4-0
Pittsburgh Penguins over Philadelphia Flyers by 6, 4-2

Semifinals

New Jersey Devils over Boston Bruins by 6, 4-2
New York Rangers over Pittsburgh Penguins by 7, 4-3

Finals

New York Rangers over New Jersey Devils by 7, 4-3

Western Conference:

Quarterfinals

San Jose Sharks over Anaheim Ducks by 4, 4-0
Detroit Red Wings over Columbus Blue Jackets by 5, 4-1
Vancover Canucks over St. Louis Blues by 5, 4-1
Calgary Flames over Chicago Blackhawks by 6, 4-2

Semifinals

San Jose Sharks over Vancover Canucks by 6, 4-2
Detroit Red Wings over Calgary Flames by 6, 4-2

Finals

San Jose Sharks over Detroit Red Wings

Stanley Cup

San Jose Sharks over New York Rangers by 5, 4-1

John Tortorella's system will get the Rangers mathmatically in the Playoffs. However, the likes of Joe Thorton and Pat Marleau will over power a weak scoring Rangers team. The Sharks will win by 5 games, regardless of who is facing them.

The Rangers in the Finals??????????????????????????????????? ok.

First off, it's not necessary to have that many question marks.
Second, these are just predictions. That's it. Who knows exactly will move further in the playoffs. Looking at the other seven teams in the playoffs, the Rangers looked better with John Tortorella as the coach and of course the Avery factor. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not. Regardless, it's just that: predictions.

I know...that is why I never said anything degrading....just questioned it.

Homer comment: I know the Blues are not as good as the elite teams in the West, but they have been playing as well as anyone lately. Dont' overlook them.

Speaking about this, I've been hearing that Paul Karyia may actually try to play in the playoffs. I hear from reports he is going to see doctors to confirm. Also, I wonder if Manyy Legace will return after being sent down to the AHL.

Same as Andrei Markov and Robert Lang.

Provided that your first round predictions in the east are correct, Boston would play New York and New Jersey would play Pittsburgh in the second round. Also the Sharks would play the Flames and the Canucks would play the Red Wings.

I don't think so. The First Seed, Boston, provided they win, would face the third or sixth seed in the second round. That is, according to the brackets.

Hockey playoffs don't work with brackets, the matchups get re-seeded after every round, so Boston (and SJ) will always play the lowest remaining seed. Nuclear Winter is right.

king mike, its obvious ur a sharks fan. and seriously, if ur a true hockey fan, then u should know that after each round, the teams are reseeded.

theres no way nabokov wins the vezina.
thomas has the best goalie all year and without him, the bruins would be horrible. the runner-up is steve mason for the same reason as thomas.

the adams trophy is up for grabs between julien, mclellan.

the norris trophy is for best DEFENSEMAN, not the defenseman who scores the most points. mike green is horrible on defense. either lidstom, chara or weber should win this one.

they dont just give someone an ward for being old. chelois wont win the masterson

the sharks will fold in the playoffs again this year.
look for a detroit/boston or detroit new jersey cup final

the rangers cant score a goal, they wont make it past the caps in the 1st round
