I watched the news the other day and saw a former wrestler talking about over a 100 former wrestlers he knew that have all died in the last 12 years! I knew Mark Mero; his child attended my school. When I met him he was recovering from injuries and had quit using steriods two years before we met.
Mark continued to push for better testing. He personally knew and had wrestled against 25 men that had died from drugs in the last 7 years. The other wrestlers who were on with him continued to make excuses and at times it was clear they were not truthful. Finally one told Mark he used Steriods but it was in a small dosage and it was his choice.
After so many deaths and a bizarre murder; what will it take to wakeup and see there are some athletes that do not care about health issues or how they act? They just want to win and get the money.
There needs to be rule that if you are caught testing positive; you lose a year of any activity. The next offense would be a life ban. You would still have idiots taking the chance but I can assure you the numbers would drop.
We ban Pete (as a player) for life for betting as a manager for his team to win?! Yet we give these drug users a third and fourth chance to come back. They not only destroy their bodies but their families. We can clearly see that athletes are not mature enough to make the right decision. We all need guidelines in life to know the boundaries of morality.
What do you think needs to happen or what rule should be in place to help save lives for all?
