So I was watching baseball highlights on ESPN and MLB network this afternoon and I couldn't help myself from checking out the backs of every player. Not because I'm gay or anything, but I noticed all the 42's that are on the backs of each players' jerseys.
Strangely, it reminded me of that car commercial that was made recently, with students coming out of school getting picked up by there parents only to see the same car being driven and parked on the street.
Okay. Thinking about how significant Jackie Robinson and the #42 is to baseball (it is retired throughout the sport), I understand it is very special. With that said, why is it necessary for every player to wear the number?
Instead of that, why can't players just wear a #42 patch? It makes more sense. I think #42 on everyone's jersey is going overboard.
