Michael Vick should not be allowed to play in the NFL. He is a convicted felon with a stigma associated with him that makes him almost unbearable.

Detroit would make a huge mistake by even talking to this loser. He had it all, and chose to harm the one animal on this Earth that almost all humans universally love and respect; Man's Best Friend.

To give him another chance to play in the NFL is sending a bad message to our children and future potential players. "Who Cares if I mess up? If I am good enough, I will get back in and make millions!"

There is no doubt regarding his talent, although I would say he has to have lost some speed over the last two years given the diet and environment he is experiencing in prison. The risks are too high and the returns are too few and not obvious.

Whoever entertains this former player had better prepare for some HUGE backlash from the world community. It is not like he funded the torture and killing of dogs. He also PARTICIPATED in the torture and killing of dogs. Anyone so lacking in respect for another living being of any kind is clearly not someone we want to put out there as a potential role model for our children or society at large.

Let him work as a construction worker for the rest of his life. I hope he looks back every day on the bad things he did and realizes it cost him his entire future, his respectability, his humanity, and his soul if he has not sought forgiveness.

As a lifelong NFL fan, I will never purchase or give any type of support to any team that hires Michael Vick. No TV games, no tickets, no jerseys of any player on that team. I am that serious about it.

His crimes have essentially made him an outcast from society. He does not want to think it does with his brash talk about demanding $10 million from the team that takes him, but that is the other sickening thing about this whole saga. He still does not think what he did was wrong.

He is apologizing because his agent tells him to do so, but there is no feeling or truth to his hollow apology. It is clear from his behavior and his current mental state that he thinks he did nothing wrong.

I am sorry to rant on about this, but is anyone home? This guy should become a footnote in the sordid history of the NFL, not a "comeback" story for any league.

If you disagree with me, then I will assume you have no empathy for those poor dogs. How do you call yourself human and condone that kind of behavior against an animal that will lay down it's life to protect yours? There is an old saying; "There are only two forms of unconditional love on this planet; Dogs and Infants".

Think about that and then try and defend this dog torturing **** who happens to be a talented athlete.

Could not have said it better myself. Great blog

Seriously? Where is forgiveness? How do you know what is in his heart? He mentioned the 10 million because he has to come up with a plan to pay back his debts for the judge. I don't condone what he did in the least and can't stand the "sport" of dog fighting but give me a break! I don't think any team is going to lose sleep over you not supporting it if they hire Vic. I'm sorry but my best friend is my wife, a human, not a dog. I like dogs and have one of my own but he's a dog! He lays down his life because he doesn't know any better, you pet him and feed him. He also pees on my carpet. My wife doesn't! I live in Thailand where the tribals eat dog, they kill the puppies and eat them because they are poor and have nothing else to eat. Should I now not live in Thailand or buy anything from here because they eat dog? Get a life and worry about the humans in this world. There are millions of them who lay down their lifes for us everyday. There are so many other things we should worry about and stand up for that are way more important than a dog. This is from a dog lover but one who puts way more importance on a human life. Wouldn't it show your kids that hey if you make a mistake you can be forgiven and don't have to suffer or give up your whole life? I would hate to be one of your kids, wife or friend if I offended you!

Sure, dogs are killed for food in some areas, but they aren't drowned, electrocuted, and strangled to death like how Vick killed them. And he did all of that just for fun

i don't condone what vick did. i actually agree w/ a lot of what you said. however, vick has talent and some team will roll the dice and take a chance on him. he will be so unpopular among fans... for yrs. it may never change for him. the guy has an attitude about himself, besides what the did, that makes me dislike him. but again, vick will get his second chance in the NFL. it will probably be the vet minimum w/ big incentives, but we have not seen the last of him on sunday afternoon.... unfortunately.

Get some perspective man. Read up on Leonard Little http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Little. I will never condone what he did but cmon now...really? He was wrong...he got sentenced and served his time. At what point does he get to live again? Its not like he was a dog catcher and wants his old job back. Its also not like he killed a person. Lets keep this in the proper light here. No child was orphaned, no son/daugher/niece/nephew was killed, molested or maimed, no ones pension was siphoned away.....he ran a dog fighting ring. Terrible? Hell yes, soul damning? Get a clue. If you have direct line to the pearly gates..please let us know but if not...please Shut the @^&* up about peoples souls and humanity. What makes you think that the majority of people even agree with you? Its no coincidence that there are only a handful of replies to this blog in the first place...wanna know why? Cuz NO ONE CARES ANYMORE! Just like when tree huggers get together to protest and animal lovers too......the sentiment fizzles after people take a step back and put it all in perspective.

To give him another chance to play in the NFL is sending a bad message to our children and future potential players. "Who Cares if I mess up? If I am good enough, I will get back in and make millions...you must not have kids or youre just an idiot. This is the perfect message to send to kids. I mean would you tell your kid "you got a D....last report card, even though you brought up to an A this report card...youre still grounded for the summer" No the lesson is.... "Yes Johnny....even a super duper star like Vick is not only subject to the law but didnt get any special treatment with his sentence, he served his time and now his debt is done. Hopefully he understands what he did was wrong and that he cant get away with it...just like you or I". Like the guy from NY said, I love dogs..own two...but I worry about people. Soldiers die everyday for us...write a blog about that. Dogs are great but they are still just dogs. They sit below humans on the scale of life for a reason.

There is an old saying; "There are only two forms of unconditional love on this planet; Dogs and Infants".

Yeah...how many infants have you seen dead on the side of the road?

Wake up junior....get some perspective and stop thinking that your opinion is shared by the majority....I promise you...it isnt. 1-3 months after it all went down...maybe. Now...no way.

As a Detroit fan...I could care less about his baggage if he can still play the game at a high level and comes in humble and ready to work.

If you have read any of my previous blogs, you will know I do not think ANY convicted felon should be allowed to play in the NFL. This guy is not deserving of another chance. I forgive Michael for what he did, but we do not want this guy stepping out there as a potential role model for our kids and future players. If we forgive this idiot, where do we stop? Should the NFL hire Child Molesters who have served their time? How about people who beat up Grandmothers? No, the NFL has to draw the line somewhere and the commissioner has to put his decidedly weak foot down sometime. Michael Vick may one day be a successful businessman or something, but he should not be a QB for any team in any league as partial payment for the atrocities he committed against those poor dogs. If the NFL allows this complete waste of talent and ability back into the league, what crime do we say is finally "too far"?
Oh and Brains, your title is a lie! You obviously have no compassion for animals, and with a lack of compassion comes a lack of respect of the depth of this moron's acts. Go look into the eyes of a dog who would give his life to protect yours and then say Michael Vick did not really do anything wrong. What a waste of Internet Ink with your worthless and febrile attempt to defend this degenerate...

April 23, 2009  12:54 AM ET

Ahh Brains... I finally read the remainder of your wasted attempt to defend this inhuman beast. You live in Detroit or are a fan of the Lions... I guess if I was that desperate I would want any shadow of a faint hope as well. Get a life and move somewhere that at least cockroaches would want to live. Get the hell out of Detoilet.

April 23, 2009  01:00 AM ET

One more time Brains... God I hate calling you that. It just does not fit! You obviously are a young fan and one who does not understand and appreciate the history of this league. You are a bubblegum/pepsi fan of the NFL and could care less about the good behavior and honor of the thousands of players who played before this idiot joined the league. You would just as soon pee on the grave of Lombardi than to give any respect to these legends who helped make the league great! How disrespectful of the history and honor of this league. Go watch Wrestling if you care nothing about honor or grace, or style, and dignity. Fans like you are what allow the commissioner to drop his pants to these convicted felons in the first place. You do not have the right to comment on any matter since you are so sorely lacking in knowledge or willing to acknowledge the great people who made this league. I will waste no more time acknowledging an idiot. Good day!

April 23, 2009  01:09 AM ET

Vid, I know there are people out there like you, but I had no idea that they would be so stupid to step forward and proclaim their love for dog torture. Be ashamed. Be very ashamed. I care about humans very much. This blog is not long enough to discuss the atrocities committed by man on other men. This blog was about upholding the honor of the NFL and not allowing this convicted felon the privilege to play in this league again. He tortured dogs! Now, you can eat all you want if you are able to sleep at night, but I will not condone it, nor defend it, nor defend this degenerate imbecile for blowing his shot at greatness. He had the tools, he just lacked the respect, restraint, and perspective of his life. He blew his shot. He should not be given another chance in ANY league. I am not in the minority by the way. Poll most Americans and you will find Animal Rights violations are right up there with Child Molesters and Politicians in respectability. How dare you have the gall to defend this beast. I pray to God that he finds forgiveness from the community and I hope he enjoys a long career in Construction and one day finds out that life is not about Michael Vick, but it is about how we treat each other, and all of the creatures on this Earth.

May 12, 2009  05:17 PM ET

Ok Red, I appreciate your opinion on this..I really do. Its what makes this country great that two people of completely different opinions can differ in a public forum and then walk away with no issues following them. Now that I have that out of the way...lets go back and look at some stuff here.

First off, let me start by saying that I'm proud to live in Michigan and I'm proud of the D. We may not be the prettiest city but we are real and Michiganders and especially Metro-Detroiters are a pretty good snapshot of everyday america. This region is more important than any other region in the country and as we go so goes the rest of the country...if you have issue with that statement...read a newspaper.

Now, I'm gonna do something that you have totally failed to do in any of your statements...and thats use OBJECTIVITY. See you seem to have this mindset that what you think IS the correct way of thinking, and some of it might be to someone but, you must understand that having a differing opinion is part of the beauty of diversity.

Now if you go back and read what I said with OBJECTIVITY you will see that I not only did my research but also stated facts when necessary to make my points, something that you still havent done. I didnt even rip into you like you did me...maybe Fannation should get with me to write this blog...

Did you know Vince Lombardi coached Paul Horning...who got banned from the leauge along with Alex Karrass INDEFINITELY for hanging with unsavory characters related to gambling......and it was Lombardi that got him back in the game? Bet you didnt know that. No doubt he did wrong but it was covered up. How out of touch do you have to be to know that the NFL has it share of ****-ups just like everyone else. And what they do is wrong but why should they or anyone be kept from making their living. If we were to be forever crucified for our past sins NONE OF US WOULD BE WORTHY OF LEAVING THE HOUSE. So my statement to you is once again to get some perspective. He didnt kill a person, he killed dogs. Terrible! But still have some perspective. And please dont you dare talk about the history of the leauge when you dont know it yourself. Calling Goodell weak is laughable and proves you just dont have any objectivitiy. What does the name Brains have to do with compassion for dogs or love for the NFL? OBJECTIVITIY JUNIOR.....IT KEEPS YOU FROM MAKING STUPID STATEMENTS LIKE THAT. You may be older than I but you still havent learned the basics of diversity and dialouge that I'm teaching my 7 year old son.

May 12, 2009  05:19 PM ET

animal rights up there with Child Molesters? You really think people would agree to that? You are a raging moron. If someone shot my dog...Id wanna hurt em...if someone hurt my kid....I WOULD kill them or die trying and just put my faith in a jury of my peers. I aint goin to jail for a dog. Does that make me an animal hater? Nope...just NORMAL

July 28, 2009  03:39 PM ET

Youre an idiot and I love it. Mike will be playing by Thanksgiving at the latest and you'll be watching him too!

August 14, 2009  01:14 PM ET

Brains, this argument is over. You fail to understand honor, sportsmanship, or morals of any kind. Even worse, you condone this miscreant playing in the NFL. You are typical of the apathetic nature of today's society. You have no class, no honor, and you have no understanding of the foundation of the NFL at all. End of story. I am done trying to educate those who are incapable of learning. My condolences to you and your family and friends that have to suffer your ignorant existence and conduct!
