Derek Jeter said that the Yankees can catch the Red Sox, no question. No question? NO question? You have got to be kidding me. I wonder if he really believes that they can catch the Sox or if he is just saying that because he is the captain.

Many people bring up the fact that the next seven of their series are against teams under .500. Oh yeah, just to remind you many people who think that will get them back in the race, the Yankees are also BELOW .500! For the Red Sox, five of their next six series are against teams under .500. Some people point out that the Red Sox blayed below .500 ball in the month of June. Now, to counter that, the Yankees played below .500 ball for the whole first half, as I mentioned before.

Another thing, the Yankees have failed to win despite Alex Rodriguez having the best first half of his career, Jorge Posada having the best first half of his career too, and Derek Jeter having a great season, as usual. The Yankees are ten games back and have to play unbelievable baseball in the second half to catch the Sox. The Red Sox have the best record in the MLB, the Yankees, well, the Yankees are tied with the Blue Jays for the nineteenth best record.

Im guessing the Yankees will have a record somewhere around 43-33 based on the ease of their schedule. I believe the Red Sox will have a record near 45-30, thus keeping the Red Sox in first and having a good lead over the Yankees. I, personally, do not believe the Yankees will reac the playoffs at all. The wild card has four contenders ahead of the Yankees and it mostly depends on who wins the AL Central. I think the Tigers will win the AL Central and either the Indians, Mariners, Athletics (a second half team), and the Twins (also a second half team).

Is that why the Red Sox fell from 6 games up to 11 games back in the 2nd half last year?

Yankees fans embrace the past. RSN shrugs it off, and soldiers on.
