About this group
For those who don't know, this group, Defenders of Honest TD's , was created by Smooth Sandy with a little help from myself, RedSoxBabe, Yoda, and others who were frustrated with the rampant cheating taking place on FanNation ThrowDowns. Unfortunately we were a bit negligent in not keeping the group growing or choosing the direction it should follow, allowing it to become relatively dormant.
However, while the group has been dormant, the cheaters most certainly have not. So I am proposing a revival of this group and building a stronger presence on FN in combating cheating.
A few things have occured since this groups inception that bear noting:
1) We now have a visible moderator on the site, RedHat. Tim has done a fantastic job of deleting dupe accounts when found and investigating suspicious TD's. He deserves to be recognized for being the first helpful person S.I. has given us, the site users, in quite some time.
RedHat can't be everywhere all the time however, so there is still a need for us peon users to do our part in combating the ever growing cheating on the site and to keep Tim apprised when necessary. I am NOT suggesting you bombard his FM with every little thing, let's not overwhelm the man, I'm just making everyone aware we have the best resource we've had since Josh moved on to bigger and better things. Let's keep the suspicions and accusations in the group and use RedHat when we need him rather than overwhelm him with every little thing.
2) There have been a LOT of new users join in recent months thanks to an aggressive ad campaign by S.I. This is, of course, a good thing overall but has given some users the idea of using these 'noobs' to their advantage. Quickly sending friend invites to every new user that joins then innundating them with FM's to vote on TD's. Obviously these new members don't have a clue how things work and since their new 'friend' asked them to vote on a TD...who do you think they will vote for?
Just a heads up to point new users you come across to this group before they are led astray from the get go.
That's all I've got for now, feel free to use all resources on the group linked to above and voice any concerns or suspicions you may have...please include a link to the TD and/or user you are questioning. Thanks.
