Dan Haren - Gave up two singles, a stolen base, and a run. Acquired a flyout, ground out, and strikeout in the first inning. He walked Prince and ended his outing with three straight outs and a strikeout to boot. B+

Ivan Rodriguez - Grounded out and singled in his only two at bats. C+

David Ortiz - Reached on an error in the first and lined out, leaving two men on. No errors for the DH who was playing first base, though. D+

Placido Polando - Grounded out to shortstop in the first inning which was his only at bat because he was injured which shows he is tough and I like that. C

Alex Rodriguez - Grounded into a fielder's choice, singled to left, and stole second base. A-Rod was thrown out at home by Ken Griffey Jr. C-

Derek Jeter - One single in his three at bats. Grounded into a double play and flied out to center field. C+

Magglio Ordonez - Flied out to right in his single at bat and thats basically all he did besides catching the long hit by Barry Bonds. D

Ichiro Suzuki - This one is easy. Ichiro went 3 for 3 and hit the first inside the park homerun in All-Star game history and was the MVP of the game which one him some huge, somehow hybrid, car. A+

Vladimir Guerrero - Vlad's 0 for 2 with two groundouts performance, was far less impressive than his home run derby win. D

Honorable Mention

Josh Beckett - Beckett was making his first All-Star Game appearance and he got the win by going two innings giving up only one hit on a strange double by Jose Reyes where it was a grounder to third that had strange spin and bounced away from A-Rod. He had Bonds fly out deep to left, Beltran grounded out, he struck out Griffey Jr., made David Wright ground out to Roberts, made Fielder line out to Ichiro, and struck out Russell Martin. A

If a guy gunned down at home because he's greedy gets a C-, Ortiz deserves higher. It is of note that he only had 2 at bats, leading me to think he's more hurt than we know.

A-Rod got a C- because he got a single and stole a base. I was planning on giving him a C+ if he didnt get gunned down at home, but he was so i gave him a C-. Also, if David was more injured than we know I don't think he would be playing so often and in tonight's game against the Blue Jays David ripped some hits. I actually haven't been to the Cape for years. Right now I am in Maine, actually.

I wrote my response before tonight's game. Papi showed up! So did Manny! Nice start to the second half.

Two of my best friends live in Portland. I'd love to see the Seadogs some day.

Yeah, I have been to two or three of their games. It is a good atmosphere. Yes, they did show up, but did you see Ortiz foul off of his right knee? Yikes.
