I just did some more investigating and found that Romo incredibly had 11 more touchdowns then Peyton Manning did after 39 starts. Romo also had 7 less interceptions. I didn't stop looking and found Romo had more touchdowns then Brett Favre also.
Tony Romo (first 39 starts)
78 TOUCHDOWNS / 43 INTERCEPTIONS
Peyton Manning (first 39 starts)
67 TOUCHDOWNS / 50 INTERCEPTIONS
Brett Favre (first 39 starts)
52 TOUCHDOWNS / 45 INTERCEPTIONS
These stats also show that some quarterback greats take a few years to get it going as Favre did. The sky is the limit for Romo. He will probably improve even more. If the line can protect him, Romo might have the ability to win a championship.
Well even the biggest critics of Romo have to admit his numbers rival the best ever after his 39 starts. I believe that Romo's 78 touchdowns is 4th all time in NFL history.
Dan Marino (first 39 starts)
95 TOUCHDOWNS / 42 INTERCEPTIONS
No one will argue that Marino had two quality receivers in Duper and Clayton while Romo had one quality receiver in Owens. These stats don't prove Romo to be these players but it shows he certainly might become them.
I find it quite encouraging that in the same amount of starts as Marino, Romo has only 1 more interception then Marino. Guys, look out for Romo because hes gonna put the rumors to rest in 09, what are haters gonna do but whine ! Don't believe the numbers, go to www.pro-football-reference.com and type in the players' name. I am astounded that Romo numbers are actually better then alot of the greats at this point of each player's respective career. I am excited about Tony Romo !!!!
