OK..so who is this bean pole I dare nickname "grand slam"?
He's the SS for the Chicago White Sox. Die hard fans might recall him as the runner up in Rookie of the year voting last year. You should learn his name.
Alexei Ramirez
So why would I call him "Grand Slam"?
Simple. This man hit FOUR of them last year, setting a rookie record for most in a year and tying a record for most in a season by any player.
Even I shrugged it off as 'luck'. I mean c'mon he's not really a power hitter.
Of course, Alexei keeps proving me and everyone else wrong. Yes, he hit his first Granny of the season tonight. Oh...did I mention he's been struggling to the tune of .154 and zero HR's before he hit it?
Yep, dude has 5 (FIVE) Grand Slams in less than 600 career ML AB's. Of his 22 career HR's, 5 have been GRAND SLAMS. How can you explain this other than to simply acknowledge it's pretty stupid to pitch to this kid with the bases loaded? Nobody in history can come anywhere NEAR Alexei's G.S. rate, no matter how you measure it, at this point.
Ted Williams was once walked intentionally with the bases loaded. Alexei Ramirez may become the second to be respected in such a manner.
