Congradrulation Al Davis, your city hates you. But I have a unique persective on my favorite player, Darrius Heyward-Bey. I am growing up in Maryland. I go to St. Pauls, a school in the B conference of the MIAA. McDonough is a school in the A conference. Heyward-Bey is an alumni there. He dominated my Crusaders in his time, and dominated everyone else. He is a flat out jaw dropper.
Why his numbers lack: Crabtree-Harrell, Harvin-Tebow, and Maclin-Daniel. Not Heyward-Bey-Turner. Chris Turner could not even compete in his own conference on a regular basis much less on a national scale. He was double teamed throughout his career. Maryland should have brought in a better WR to take a guy off of Heyward-Bey. Give the credit to Maryland for this, they didn't give him the ball enough.
When he is in he is dangerous: 96 yard catch his freshman season, the unbelievable catch and run against VT last year. The kid is a machine. He is explosive whenever he touches the ball. End arounds, flys, even put him at tailback.
His work ethic: He has a tremendous work ethic. He has the desire to improve his route running.
Why he fits in with the Raiders: Jamarcus Russell needed a WR that can match his arm strength. Somebody to get down the field as quick as possible. Heyward-Bey fits here perfectly. He can also run after the catch. His presence will help McFadden in that he will take 2 DB down the field, and give more room to McFadden.

I hope he has a chip on his should. Everyone is laughing at him and the raiders. Its not his fault, but welcome to the pro athlete world. I hope he proves everyone wrong! Work ethic is the MOST important aspect a player can have. A 4.25 forty is nice too.

I hope he has the hands to go with his speed mmm remember James Jett,Willie Gault those two come to mind, great speed, no hands and neither could catch in traffic or come down with a big catch when needed.I admit I have not seen D.H.Bey play in a game so I am going by the few clips I have seen. After watching Crabtree play several games this year I was convinced he was the best wr in the draft after making a bunch of clutch catches during the season.I hope I am wrong .

I think he does have a chip on his shoulder already if you've seen his interview the day of the draft. Know what's funny? If it were Walsh of the 49ers who drafted him there would be no issue and people would just think it was something welp, Walsh the great one knows best. But it was Walsh that said if you want a player -go get him. And that's what Al did.
I do agree with folks that we should have traded down a bit, I mean look at the Pats stockpilling picks for 2010. But as we have seen, the draft has it's ups and downs and it's been a loong time since we've seen a Randy Moss come out of the draft. I'm up on Heyward and welcome him. Javon Walker is the one who better step it up man.
