Former Giants great Juan Marichal bested the Ryan Express by five voter???s points, with Yankee All-Star closer and future HOF Mariano Rivera coming in a distant third. Hall of Fame knuckleballer Phil Niekro was the only pitcher outside of the top three to receive a first place vote. When the final voting was complete, 18 total pitchers received votes under the following qualification: pitchers receiving votes must have pitched during the Cy Young era (1956 to present). Each writer voted for 5 players on a 5-4-3-2-1 point system. Voting records for each writer are listed below the summary of voting.
