As Dick Enberg would exclaim, "Oh, my!" Matthew Stafford the next draftee to enter the black hole aka the Detroit Lions football team. Somewhere along the line, the league needs to limit how many first picks teams such as the Lions get.
I suggest that any college or potential college stars--particularly QBs--get counseled before entering school to take up baseball or some other sport so that in case they do get drafted by an underachieving (crummy) team, then they can do a John Elway. Either that, hopefully have a father such as Eli to help him dodge that crummy (underachieving) team.
I mean this has gotten ridiculous. There are some teams that just don't know how to draft; and if they do, don't know how to develop or use the poor sap. Ridonculous, ridonculous, ridonculous I say.
Yes limit the first-pick choices these teams can get. If they don't improve after about a couple of years or so, then just shove them to the back of the line. Why wait years and years for these teams to get their act together and watch all this talent go by the wayside. Who knows how Joey (Whatever his last name was. See I can't even remember.) would have fared with another team that knew what they were doing. Teams such as the Lions and Raiders have had their chance; and as Lily Tomlin would say, "And that's the truth...(raspberry sound)."
Unfortunately, the Cowboys looked inept in their drafting this year. Had twelve picks and wonders afloat as to why they didn't package some of those picks to be able to draft higher. Well, it shall be seen.
