Welcome to the 'Daily Blitz' please come in and take a seat. If there are no open ones, we will play musical chairs once everyone arrives to be fair to one and all.
Whats New
It has been a busy week in the 'Burgh with mincamps opening up on Friday, May 1st. Almost every player attended with the exception of Larry Foote, who has asked the team for a trade or his release.
The only player of note not participating is Hines Ward, who is still recovering from a late season injury. It's Mike Tomlin's third camp as the Steelers coach and there should not be much drama. But thats the way the Steelers like it.
Prior to mini-camp, the Steelers signed 5 free agents. The team officially added corner-back Keiwan Ratliff, punter Dirk Johnson, wide receivers Shaun McDonald and Jayson Foster, and kicker Piotr Czech to the roster.
Most of these signings are roster fillers and won't be with the team on opening day, but the Shaun McDonald and Keiwan Ratliff signings are interesting.
Could the two players be this years version of Mewelde Moore and Kenyon Fox, little known free agents signed in 2008, who contributed much more then expected, in route to victory in Super Bowl XLIII. Both are savvy veterans, who have looked good with their previous teams ,but did not fit the systems they were in. Could now be their chance to shine?
Player Profile - LaMarr Woodley
Recently, Lamarr Woodley attended the premiere of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and was showing off his Wolverine tattoo to the film's star, Hugh Jackman. That's what a great second season and prime time showing in a Super Bowl can do for a NFL player. Get his name on the 'A' Lists of Hollywood.
A great season has also made Woodley one of our favorite Steelers players, here at Pittsburgh Blitz. He is the real deal and should only get better......
