Am I missing something? For MVP this year, everyone and their mother has Lebron James winning MVP, in a landslide.
My question is, why not Dwayne Wade? After looking at their stats, there isn't much difference.
Lebron = 28.4 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 7.2 APG, 48.9% FG
Dwayne= 30.2 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 7.5 APG, 49.1% FG
Dwayne has him beat in 3 out of 4 categories.
So I went further, looking at how many minutes they each played in the regular season.
Lebron = 81 Games X 37.7 Minutes played per game = 3053.7 Minutes Total
Dwayne= 79 Games X 38.6 Minutes played per game = 3049.4 Minutes Total
Dwayne played 14.3 minutes less.
From there I went to their supporting cast. I chose the next best players on their teams, one man from the Heat, and one man from the Cavaliers. They had to have started in at least 70 games.
Cavs = Mo Williams = 17.8 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 4.1 APG, 46.7% FG
Heat = Udonis Haslem= 10.6 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.1 APG, 51.8% FG
Am I missing something here? Their suppporting casts look to be about the same, both teams made the playoffs, without Wade or James, neither team would have come close to making the playoffs...is it the team record? It must be. Right? For MVP?
