Racing to me is kind of like classical music: I don't know much about it but I know what I like. And I liked seeing veteran driver Mark Martin win at Phoenix a few weeks back.
You might say it re-charges my psychic battery when I see a fellow old-timer like Martin take the checkered flag. I got the same feeling when Jamie Moyer helped his Phillies to the title and would too if Brett Favre decided to suit-up again.
We know we're getting older but maybe we're not old yet if someone our age can still cut it in a young man's game. That's why I was hoping Julio Franco and Rickey Henderson would play forever, and they probably could have!
So in honor of the timeless Mr. Martin's recent NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win I've applied what little knowledge I have about driving fast and listed my Greatest Car Chases in Movie History. Here are the six Antonio Vivaldis, Claude Debusseys of cinematic car chase history:
1) The Seven-Ups: Roy Scheider
2) Ronan: Robert De Niro
3) Mad Max: Mel Gibson & "The Night Rider"
4) French Connection I: Gene Hackman*
* foot-chase in FC II is better
5) Terminator 2: mall / aqueduct scene
6) To Live & Die in L.A
