We see it everywhere. We see it on television. On Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC, and ESPN. We see it during baseball games. Whether someone makes a touchdown catch, a hockey goal, or rounding the plates for a round tripper.
Let me gives you the names. Kurt Warner, Brett Farve, Jaromir Jagr, Tommy Lasorda, Mike Krzyzewski, Mike Sweeney, Sean Casey, Juan Pierre, Derek Jeter, Bobby Abreu, Vladimir Gurrerro, Gary Sheffield, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, Jarome Iginla, Evander Holyfield. I could go on forever and ever.
So why give your talents to a higher power and say your statistics are the benefit from your beliefs?
First of all, I am not an atheist. An atheist doesn't believe in a higher power at all. However, it is undeniable that athletes take their beliefs a little too far. So why not attack the subject?
If you want to be more interested, look up the Outside the Lines report on televangelists and athletes. The link is down below:
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4081131
Once you see that report, you'll understand what I'm going to say. Sports and religion do not go together. My belief is that there needs to be a Separation of Church and Sport to avoid all the unecessary spending. Athletes paying millions to churchs? There is something called "charity." I understand the importance of giving back, but televangelists are extremely corrupt and atrocious. Kurt Warner needs to give himself more credit for his ability and stop supporting a televangelist who is one of many who scams an entirely uneducated population. I could go on and on, but this is a sports blog
Then there is the problem with athletes and corruption with religion. The biggest name is Barry Bonds. Quote on quote, he has thanked "god" for his talents. To any knowledgable reader, this is a hypocrisy, mostly because no one ejected steroids, but himself. So pointing to the sky was merely a upward mirror of his continuous Pinnochico card, but it was his head that kept getting bigger.
So if you want to petition for the Separation of Church and Sport, please comment and spread. Otherwise, enjoy life.

Separation of church and sport? Are you kidding me? You're saying an athlete is wrong for making a simple gesture after a good play? Or by thanking God for blessing them with special talents and abilities?! Wow. Are you a socialist? Approve of regulating minor things like methods of celebration? And how can you name so many Christian athletes and then use one (Bonds) as your proof? And what's with saying all churches are corrupt because some televangelists are? Think about what you're implying here. And Kurt Warner should be more self-centered and egotistical, huh? And Christians are an un-educated population too? This is probably the single most offensive blog post I have ever read. Mike, why are you so jaded and hateful? I think you have a poor understanding of the gratitude a Christian had for the fact that God, the Creator of the universe, has blessed us so and has provided for us a means to eternal redemption. We can't ever be too emphatic in our gratitude and praise to the Lord. Bless His Holy Name! You don't have to like it, but these athletes and I are not ashamed our the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Praise Him forever!
