I have recently watched "The Express: The Ernie Davies Story" and it got me thinking about other sports movies. This movie was so moving it made me want to go to the Y and lift my mind off trying to get as good as Ernie. But it probably is not the greatest sports movie ever. "Remember the Titans" is a good one, and so are "Hoosiers," "Miracle," and "Friday Night Lights."
But remembering the good movies got me thinking about the bad ones. Movies that are trying to portray the life of athletes like "Varsity Blues" and "Any Given Sunday" do no justice to what the life of athletes at either level are really like. They are just horrible views to those who do not play sports or have never played sports and are trying to get a grasp of what it is like to be in the locker-room with the guys. Never once have I ever heard about an alligator being thrown into the shower by a teamate at a teamate... after a game too.
Anyways, I was just wonder what all of you people think are the best and worst sports movies ever. Not based on acting and dialogue, but rather on what sports are all about.
Best: Rudy
Worst: Have to go with "Any Given Sunday" because it is not at all what the NFL is like unless it is based on the life of Michael Erving.
