Last night Yunel Escobar hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the bottom of ninth to give the Braves a 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. It seemed that Atlanta had blown a chance at a win in the top of the inning, when Stephen Drew hit a solo homerun to tie the game up. Mike Gonzalez got his 2nd win of the year, and the win gave the Braves an 18-17 record.

Atlanta has been on fire as of late, going 7-3 in the last 10 games and 6-2 on their road trip. This streak has the Braves tied for second in the NL East, only two games behind the division leading Mets. After two more games against the 13-23 Diamondbacks, the Braves have a four game series against the 14-20 Colorado Rockies. If the Braves can keep it up the way they've been playing, I say they can win 4 of the 6 games.

The series after the Colorado one will prove how good the Braves really are. They will be at home to play the Blue Jays, who have the second best record in major league baseball. The Braves have done so much better this season on the road then at home (12-8 road, 6-9 home), so maybe staying home might actually hurt Atlanta. Don't be suprised if the Braves have the division lead sometime before June.

There is a reason that I went with "The Streaking Braves" as the title of this blog. As I watched the Braves play the Mets on Tuesday night, the announcer suddenly said "oh my God, there's a streaker on the field". The cameras did not go to the man, just to Derek Lowe in the dugout watching the guy and laughing. After I looked up video of it on YouTube, I found out that apparently there's been a streaker during a Phillies/Braves game earlier in the year (if anyone knows when this was, please leave a comment).

Two streakers running on the field during a Braves road trip? How embarassing. We haven't even had one in our home series this year! Which led me to think of an idea for someone who was willing to streak to do this. They would have nothing on but a sign on there back that said "Are you Brave Enough?" and the Braves logo of the man laughing.

The Blue Jays series is in Atlanta, I agree with your comment, let's see how they do against a team with a lot of offense and playing well at the moment. Kotchman and Anderson are coming around and the pitching staff is solid.
