I am planning on creating a 2009 Mock Draft where different people control different teams and they draft players from the draft pool, trade draft picks and players and everything else that any NBA's team GM would do.
Why so early? I just wanted to get some people before it would be too late. We will have a set-time for the draft and everybody must be there. If someone is not there then all of that person's picks will be forfeited.
We will have a TD tournament after the draft. Each person can take up to three teams and that person may pick the team that they think is the best. You then have to use that team for all of the TD's you do in the tournament. If you would not like to do the tournament but you would still like to do the draft, just say so.
I don't care if you go trade crazy in the draft. I don't care if you trade LeBron James for Kobe Bryant, trade your whole roster, get 10 draft picks, even fire your coach. Just do whatever you think will help your team the most.
So, just to clear things up, you can:
- Draft college players from the 2009 Draft Pool
- Trade players, draft picks and anything else there is
- Fire and Hire coaches
- Sign Free Agents
- And then join the TD Tournament
Remember, the Salary Cap of $58.68 million. Top 5 picks are automatically $4 million. Picks 6-15 are $2.5 million. Picks 16-30 are $1.75 million and all 2nd round picks are $1 million. Free Agents are worth how much their most previous contract was worth. All NBA cap rules apply.
I don't care when we do this. Should we do it in a week or so and just base the order on the 2009 standings or wait until the Draft Lottery and pick around that time? If anybody has a preference, say.
So . . . pick your teams! You can pick up to three teams like I already said and if you don't want to be included in the TD tournament, say that when you pick the teams.
When you pick your teams, you must pick 1 team from the Top 10 teams in the standings, 1 team from 11-20 and one team from the worst ten teams in the standings.
