Were Victor Martinez and Ryan Zimmerman great values on draft day in your league? The opposite would be true for Adrian Beltre and Milton Bradley. See which players have been the best and worst fantasy values so far.
Catcher
Victor Martinez was a question mark in my mind coming into the season coming off an injury plagued, punchless 2008 campaign, but he has rebounded in a big way with seven home runs and 27 RBIs. Did I mention that he's also hitting .400! It's good to see Martinez completely healthy and putting up big numbers from a weak position. Joe Mauer is a player whom I love, but had him at the bottom end of my draft list for catchers. The kidney/back injury scared me to death and I was afraid that even when he came back, he might not be the same player. Man, was I wrong, as Mauer has come back with a vengeance. He's hitting the cover off the ball and hitting for power, which is something he has never done before (13 HRs is his career high).
Now for the bad news. Geovany Soto has certainly not been the player we were all expecting this season. Whether it's because of the dreaded sophomore slump or because of the shoulder injury suffered in the season's first week, the results have not been there as of yet. Ryan Doumit was a good "under the radar" catcher, or so I thought, but a broken hamate bone has him shelved for at least another six weeks.
