Well, we're near the quarterpole in the MLB regular season and here's a look at some players that could be on the move and what teams need: AL East Orioles: 1B Aubrey Huff, 3B Melvin Mora Red Sox: needs CIF depth and RP Blue Jays: need SP depth(getting Romero off DL soon) Yankees: need a better backup C and RP Rays: need SP(could call up David Price from Durham to fill need) AL Central Indians: 3B/Util Mark DeRosa, 1B Ryan Garko, SP Cliff Lee(could be next "CC Mania" pitcher) White Sox: need SP(rumor on Jake Peavy reported today in San Diego and on ESPN) Twins: need SP(or just improved SP from Baker) Royals: really no needs that can't be filled by players coming back from the DL(3B Gordon and Closer Soria) Tigers: couldn't find a need at first look, Verlander pitched a gem yesterday and the D-Train is back on the tracks. AL West Angels: need SP, MIF depth, and RP Mariners: need SP A's: OF Matt Holliday and SS Orlando Cabrera Rangers: need Pitching depth NL East Braves: need RP Marlins: I feel that 2B Dan Uggla is there for the taking if the offer is right. Nationals: OF Josh Willingham has been a disappointment and 1B Nick Johnson could be available for the right offer. Phillies: need SP Mets: need 1B and RP depth, OF Daniel Murphy may be available NL Central Cubs: need RP, 3B(Ramirez on DL with seperated shoulder), and OF Astros: SS Miguel Tejada, LF Carlos Lee, and RP LaTroy Hawkins if Drayton McLane wants to do a salary purge. Reds: may need a 1B if Joey Votto's dizziness issue doesn't improve Brewers: need 2B and SP, 3B Bill Hall may be available Cardinals: need 3B(linked to possible DeRosa trade) and possibly SP. Once all OF are healthy, CF Rick Ankiel or LF Chris Duncan could be available. Pirates: couldn't find any needs, but they are the Pirates NL West Diamondbacks: OF Eric Byrnes and CIF Chad Tracy, the team needs OFFENSE! Rockies: 3B Garrett Atkins, SP Aaron Cook, and Closer Huston Street Dodgers: need SP, have been able to weather the Manny storm so far Padres: SP Jake Peavy, OF Brian Giles Giants need OFFENSE!!!!! Now teams that may be acting on their needs sooner rather than later are the White Sox, Mets, and Cardinals. The White Sox with Jake Peavy from the Padres, the Mets with 1B Aubrey Huff from the Orioles, and the Cardinals with Mark DeRosa from the Indians.
