#1 - Matt Holliday - Big market player playing for a small market team. Holliday is second in the national league in batting average. He is batting .341, just .001 behind Hunter Pence. He has a .392 OBP, .573 slugging percentage, 15 homeruns, and .964 OPS.
#2 - Kevin Youkilis - When you think of the Red Sox, you would most likely think, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Daisuke Matsuzaka, etc. Kevin Youkilis is not the person most people think of. Youkilis should have been the seventh Red Sox player on the All-Star game. Kevin is batting .325 and he has a .420 OBP.
#3 - Jorge Posada - Like Kevin Youkilis with the Red Sox, Jorge is not the person most people would think about when talking about the Yankees. Most people would probably think about A-Rod's wife first! Every year people think Jorge will be on the decline, but this year Jorge is doing even better than usual. Posada is batting .327 and has a .400 OBP.
#4 - Orlando Cabrera - Orlando should have been an All-Star and maybe even a starter. He is batting .328 with an OBP of .366. Cabrera is tied for seventh in the league with doubles. He is not only hitting well, but he has a .986 fielding percentage. He is having the best season of his career.
#5 - Hanley Ramirez - I have seen many blogs about the top five players at each position in MLB and too many of them leave this guy out of it. Hanley is, in my opinion, the second best shortstop in the MLB. He is batting .331, 27 stolen bases, and 70 runs. He can also hit with power, he has fourteen homeruns and a slugging percentage of .538.
