Following UFC 98's absurd comments by the commentaters, lets look at the Lightweight Division. Here a a peak at the top 5 with one character whose name was thrown in the hat for a title shot after decisioning Sherk....
Obviously Penn and Florian are about to square off for the title....and personally I think Florian is more diciplined and takes the belt.
It was mentioned that Frankie Edgar should get a shot at the winner...I say Bananas!

First and foremost, he decisioned an aging Sherk and not in an impressive fashion. The fight was easily in his favor but the score was more like 29-28. Secondly look at who else is in the division!

Gray "The Bully" Maynard recently threw Edgar around and imposed his will on Edgar. With one more fight under his belt then Edgar he is 8-0-1 while Edgar stands at 8-1. Maynard showed dominance over him, is widely known for his strength, and has some serious power. Just ask Veres whom Maynard knocked out in 9 seconds, only 1 second behind the UFC record.
Then you have probably the most obvious contender in "The Nightmare" aka Sanchez...

Sanchez has an upcoming match with Guida that could be steller based on Guida's ability to really push the pace. Considering Sanchez's size and power, on top of his reach and dangerous ground game....It could be good but most likely moves Sanchez to 23-2. Sanchez's only loses come to bigger welterweights that are not slouches in their own right. Only men to beat him were Fitch and Koscheck.
Here is my take...Sanchez and Maynard square off, then we talk about that winner taking either Florian or Penn (the belt holder at that time). Frankie gets another 2 good wins under his belt and then he can look toward a shot.
