I don't expect anyone to read this, I'm just copying and pasting a post so I don't have to dig up the information again.
Oh and for anyone that does stumble upon this, it was in response to a few delusional Lakers fans that seem to think Kobe was just as important as Shaq on their title teams. Hell after looking at the numbers he was even less important than I thought he was and damn lucky that Shaq was so dominant. Either way Shaq was the main force behind those Championships is the point.
2000 Finals
Kobe - 37% (FG %), 15.6 pts/gm (Didn't play in game 3)
Shaq - 61%, 38 pts/gm
Not sure which game was more impressive? Game two where Kobe scored 2 points on 3 shoots or Game five where he chucked up 20 shots and only had 8 points to show for it.
2001 Finals
Kobe - 42%, 24.6 pts/gm
Shaq - 57%, 33 pts/gm
2002 Finals
Kobe - 51%, 26.75 pts/gm
Shaq - 60%, 36.25 pts/gm
This was the only Finals Kobe ever played well in and it was still significantly out shined by Shaq.
Even more telling is the Finals they lost (Despite being heavy favorites).
2004 Finals
Kobe - 38%, 22.6 pts/gm
Shaq - 63%, 26.6 pts/gm
This was the series that the Lakers felt the need to not give Shaq the ball despite the fact that he was scoring at will. Obviously letting Kobe miss 62% of his shots wasn't a smart strategy.
Now tell me which player you think deserves most of the credit for the 3 rings?
How about this for a nice little factoid. Out of those 4 series there was 20 games played (Shaq played in all 20, Kobe 19). Shaq shot 50% or better in every single one of them. Kobe? Just FOUR though he did manage to shoot under 40% in 10 of the 19 he played in. LOL
In fact if you throw in last years Finals Kobe has shot under 40% in 14 of his 25 games and over 50% in just 5 of them. Yep that's almost 3 times more likely to stink up the court than to have a great shooting night. Talk about clutch! LOL
