Lets get over this notion that the best coaches are in the NBA. It is not true because you don't coach NBA players as much as you manage their egos.. The reason I say this is no coach worth his salt would ever mess with the chemistry of his line up the way Van Gundy did in trying to play Jameer Nelson in game 1. He is not Michael Jordan and Rafer Alston got you past Lebron. He deserved a hell of a lot more respect and don't tell me it ain't a legit excuse.
Basketball is about confidence for guards. You need to believe in yourself and what a slap in the face. Alston played his heart out for you in the last two series and this is the respect you give him? Jameer was brutal.. he looked like the pillsbury doe boy.. and even if he was in shape you don't mess with a good thing.. no coach would force feed Nelson into a lineup that is clicking. You just do not do that.. you sit Nelson on his behind and you see how you team plays game one without him. You do not mess with a formula that is working in the finals.
Jameer Nelson dribbled way too much. Couldn't drive of course his jumper was off....
Game one loss is on STAN VAN GUNDY... you screwed up as a coach. You messed with your team's chemisty in the finals.. no wonder Pat Riley canned you in Miami.
