On Thursday June 4th, Randy Johnson did an incredible feat. We won his 300th career game. Some people might not think 300 wins is amazing but it is definatly amazing. Imagine winning 20 games in a season. That is very good. Think of doing that for 15 years. That is amazing. Most pitchers never win 20 games and most pitchers are not good for 15 years.

Ever since we have had 4 and 5 man rotations, most pitchers pitch 30 maybe 35 games. In one season there are about 2 pitchers who win 20 games. If you win 20 games that is 1/15 of 300 wins. If a pitcher wins 10 games per season he will have to be pitching in to his fifties to get 300. If a pitcher wins 15 games a year, they will win 300 in their forties. 15 games a year is very good. If you win 15 games a year then you are very good. Most 300 game winners win an average of between 15-20 games per full season career wise. That means you are among the top in wins (not the top but among it) for every year until you are 40 years old. Does it mean you are there every year? No, you might win 25 in one year, or you might miss half the year due to a knee injury and win only 8 games but i am just using averages. You also have to make the big leagues young. You want to be a big leaguer in your early twenties, no later than 25 years old. Many good MLB players like ryan howard made it in their mid twenties.

Other big and very impressive milestones are; 500 home runs, 3500 strikeouts, 3000 hits, 1500 RBI, and 400 saves, and all records. Some season milestones are; 50 home runs, 40 home runs, 30 home runs, 100 RBI, 120 RBI, .300 BA, .320 BA, .350 BA, 50 SB, 20 wins, 200 strikeouts, 200 hits, 40 saves, and all records.

Who will be the next 300 game winner? Nobody knows, but he is not an active big leaguer. It can be a division 2 college star who was an undrafted free agent, it can be the best pitcher on your high school varsity team, it can be a pre - teen who has no clue what baseball is, it can be a second grader who's league does not even let kids pitch yet, or it can be somebody not even born yet. The current pitcher with the best shot is C.C Sabathia who has 121 wins and will turn 29 in about six weeks. He will get maybe 260 or 275 but he has a very small chance to get 300.
