To paraphrase Mark Twain...  "The Rumors of the Red Wings demise were greatly exagerrated..."

Star-divide

Maybe if the Penguins had played Friday night, like several of them said they wanted to, they could have put together a game, and made Game 5 interesting.

Instead, they had a lot of time to sit around and read about how the Red Wings were tired, and think about how they had the Champs on the ropes, and dream about winning the cup.

Funny thing about hockey... when you think all you have to do is show up to win, you usually get your arse kicked... and that's what happened last night.

The Game after the Red Wings finally acted their age... the Penguins acted theirs... They looked very much like a young hockey team who who forgot that, in the words of Muhammad Ali: "You can't beat the champ on points. You have to whoop the champ."

It was a stinker of a game... no question. It's easy to blame it on Marc Andre Fleury, but a game that bad is a team effort. Now, of course, all of the pundits who were running around and asking whether the Red WIngs could bounce back are doing a 180 and asking the same thing about the Penguins.

The fact is, the Red Wings have a lot of proud champions who are never going to give up. We know that the Penguins have a lot of talent who can take over any game. The question now, is, do they have the character to never give up as well...

I believe they do. I think Fleury is back in goal Tuesday night, and the home crown is roaring in full throat, and the Penguins win again on home ice to force a game seven.

I cannot remember a series where home ice was such an advantage -- as it should be. But, if the Penguins are going to win the series, they will have to knock out the champs, at home.

It is a tall order... but... it is as it should be.

You shouldn't beat the champ on points.

Thanks... it is what it is, as Mike Tomlin says... Happily, the Pens get one more chance to show they are worthy champions...
