Since this time of year is usually recycled news about one thing or another, and not much going on with the teams of the NFL, other than OTA's and such, maybe it's time for something a bit different and maybe get a laugh or two out of it.

I found some quotations from various former players, coaches, and what have you, and I will quote them here, and maybe we can have a few laughs while seeing if anyone can guess who said it.

1). "Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein".

2). When asked about his coach, John Jenkins, this University of Houston WR said "He treats us like men. He lets us wear earrings"

3). "I want to rush for 1000 yards, or 1500 yards, whichever comes first"

4). "You guys line up alphabetically by heighth"

5). The same man in #4 is also credited with this .."Men, I want you just thinking of one word all season. One word and one word only: Super Bowl."

6). And this one as well... "Just remember the words of Patrick Henry....Kill me or let me live"

7). "I wouldn't ever set out to hurt someone deliberately, unless it was important.......like a league game".

8)."I've been big ever since I was little".

9). "I feel like I'm the best, but you're not going to get me to say that".

10). "Hawaii doesn't win many games in the United States".

11). After winning a Big 10 title for Ohio State, this Buckeyes QB said " I'm really happy for Coach Cooper and the guys who've been around here for 6 or 7 years, especially our seniors".

12). "He couldn't spell cat if you spotted him the c and the t"

13). "We can't run. We can't pass. We can't stop the run. We can't stop the pass. We can't kick. Other than that, we're just not a very good football team right now."

14).  On injuries resulting from poor physical conditioning, this University of Texas coach said  "One player was lost because he broke his nose. How do you go about getting a nose in condition for football?"

15).  "Football players win football games"

16). "The NFL, like life, is full of idiots"

Most of these are from NFL players, or coaches, but 3 are from the college ranks, along with one from a college analyst.  How true these are, I don't know. But, regardless of that, it's different than the continuing sagas of Favre, T.O., Jerry Jones, and other recycled news items that keeps cropping up, boring us to death. I will give credit where credit is due to the ones who are responsible for these "words of wisdom" in another blog later on

Enjoy.

I'll give you a hint........he was once a coach of the Houston Oilers, but being from Texas, I can't say I remember him. He must have been the coach before I started watching football, and I'm 53 yrs old.

Patrick Henry said "Give me Liberty, or Give me death" and I sure would like to know how "Kill me or let me live" came out of that......lmao

Here's a recent one that will surely join the HOF of Football Quotes:

"When the play was called, I kind of figured, 'I guess there's ties in the NFL.' I've never been a part of a tie. I never even knew that was in the rule book. It's part of the rules and we have to go with it. I was looking forward to the next opportunity to get out there and try to drive to win the game."

Apologies, I was distracted. It was the middle of the day at the office here, annoying customers kept calling me, e-mail messages kept popping up on my screen marked urgent, and people kept walking in my door delivering stacks of redundant intraoffice memos and wanting decisions and signatures from me. How am I supposed to solve trivia questions when my company is doing everything it can to make me work during office hours?

BTW, where did your Rick Simon profile photo disappear to?

Lol. Up until a couple of days ago, you profile picture showed a guy in a cowboy hat - I could have sworn it was Gerald McRaney as Rick Simon in the 80s show Simon & Simon.

Now as I browse your profile and your profile images, I cannot find that picture anymore and am beginning to doubt my sanity.

Ohhh, that Simon. I used to watch that show too............lol............I've seen Gerald McRainey in person a few years ago in Pensacola, Florida when I was still active duty with the Navy.

The avatar I had on a few days ago was Alan Jackson. I had used Paint shop Pro to enhance it a bit. I seen AJ too a few years ago in New Orleans............good show.

Think you meant this one? You're not insane........lol..........I never added it to my profile images. It's in my virtual places folder, when I go chat in VP.
