The Hershey Bears failed to wrap up the Calder Cup on home ice last
night, falling to Manitoba 3-2 and moving the series back to Manitoba,
at 3 games to 2. It wasn't from the lack of attempts. The Bears
dominated the Moose on shots on goal, but could not solve Moose goalie
Cory Schneider last night.
The Bears out shot Manitoba 33-26,
but were out shot in the third period 15-9. Although out shot 12-7 in
the second period, the Moose struck twice, taking a 2-0 lead at the end
of the second period. The Bears were unable to claw their way out of
the deficit. Graham Mink pulled the Bears to within 2-1 a little over
4 minutes into the third, scoring his 7th of the playoffs. But, the
Moose struck back to take a 3-1 lead with under 2 minutes to play.
John Carlson scored with 30 second left to narrow the lead, but the
game was virtually over at that point.
