So far this month the Buccos are 6-4. Had we not been swept by the Astro's things would be a bit better. However, that's water under the brifge it's time for me to let that go. There are 28 games left until the All-Star break. How the Pirates perform and what record they have will go a long way in determinig how this season is going to play out.

In seasons past I would be happy with them splitting the 28 and going 14-14. This no longer is good enough. With the addition of a couple young players who bring some enthusiasm to the game, the outcome of games should be changing. With players like Adam LaRoche, Jack Wilson, and Freddie Sanchez this team should be on the way up. Despite some inconsistant pitching, there are offensive players on this team that need to pick it up and overcome this sometime shortcoming. They have been together for a few years and should finally be jelling as a team. If they can't, Neil Huntington would have every right to dismantle and start all over, again.

The present team has no excuses for having another losing season. Their talent potential needs to start being lived up to. I truly expect the Pirates to go 18-10 prior to the All-Star game. To some this may be wishful thinking and fantasy. I believe these Pirates can do it. Going on a streak like this makes the second half of the season worth something and finally starts to live up to what we Pirate fan's have been sold over the last few years.

Go Buccos!!
