Yes, it has been intensity with the Lakers-Magic series, particularly Game 4. It was brought to culmination with Kobe and Howard finally jawing at one another after Bryant would absolutely not let go of a rebound. . . even throwing an elbow. (C'mon Dwight, ya gotta fight for that ball! Think the Puppet is just going to give it up just like that? He's trying to prove he can win one without da Shaquer.). Yep, you could read Bryant's lips, calling out to Howard, "What?" as both were walking away.
You knew this was coming, after Magic blew a 12 point halftime lead. Coming out listless in the third quarter with Ariza burning those threes. Bound to happen. Intensity. . . intensity. Then Pietrus slams Gasol in the back as he slams the ball in himself. Think I may have heard one of the commentators call it a push. That was nooo push. In any event, that was a flagrant. Still, as far as I've heard, Pietrus will not be suspended for it.
Well, that flagrant occurred in OT, and how did we get to OT, gentlemen? Now, I had been singing the praises of the Turk (Turkoglu) for his veteren cool. Toward the end of the game, under his guide, he helped his young mates overcome their deficit and actually take the lead! Well, not to be undaunted. . .
Yes, not to be undaunted, the Lake Show had veteran cool waiting in the wings by the name of Derek "the Wreck" Fisher. The "Wreck" because he may just have wrecked the Magic's slim chances or hope of ever winning this championship series. Now the man wasn't doing anything spectacular up to the point of his clutch threes. He was just doing as he normally does. . . just waiting. . . just hustling for those loose balls--even taking a rake across the eyes. Letting Kobe accumulate all his glory until it was time. . . to. . . strike.
Like ice cold water being thrown into the face, the Magic felt the effects of Fisher's first three that tied it. Think the Magic didn't feel the tremors of that one even though they still had ample time to put together a last-winning shot? They most certainly felt it, and you could tell by the way Pietrus--I think who it was--put up his shot. Looked awkward, sonny boy. Well the rest you basically know about. Fish hits another three in OT to sink the dagger in deeper, and then we have Pietrus. . .
What really or actually who irritated me to the max was Stan's brother. He coaches one team in the NBA Championship (which they lose 4-1 to the Spurs) over ten years ago, and he's considered an expert? Get out of my LZ. He with his whiny, nasally voice actually takes Jameer Nelson to task for not getting into Fisher's face to possibly block his 3 pointer. If Mr. Nelson gets any closer, it's a foul brutha; and Mr. Fisher possibly puts the Lakers in the lead outright. Why are we continually subjected to this dude on the airwaves? Stan's brother should have gone out. . . the way of analog.
