Now that UFC 99 has passed, I can finally make my UFC 100 picks. I've been looking forward to making these picks since I started using the site. I had a good day for my UFC 99 picks going 5 for 6. Keeping track, my all-round record is ... well 5 for 6. It's a start...
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Alan Belcher
Akiyama should take this fight no problem. He has wins over some great fighters on a whole other level then Belcher. He's beaten Kang, Manhoef, and Smirnovas. Belcher on the other hand is a slightly above average fighter with a decent track record. Then again, people said Kang should have easily taken out Belcher and look how that turned out. Either way, this promises to be a great fight as Akiyama hasn't ever hadany of his 15 fight go to decision, including his 13 wins. I've got Akiyama taking the 2nd round TKO win.
Jon Fitch vs Paulo Thiago
If you check my one of my other blogs you'll see I have Thiago as one of the top 5 up and comers in the UFC. On that note, I don't think he has the experience to take out a fighter like Fitch. Other then his beatdown by GSP, Fitch hasn't lost in almost 7 years. 7 YEARS! He's beaten guys a lot tougher and more well rounded then Thiago. I see Fitch taking a 1st round KO.
Dan Henderson vs Micheal Bisping
I've never given Bisping as much credit as he deserves after he won that controversial decision against Hamill. He's got great hands, heart and wrestling. On that note, Henderson is, in my opinion, a stronger wrestler and has unbelievable knockout power in both hands. I don't think Henderson will be able to finish him but I think Dan will win a Unanimous Decision.
Georges St Pierre vs Thiago Alves
Thiago Alves keeps beating me on UFC Undisputed. Unfortunately for him, this isn't a video game. Georges St Pierre has such strong wrestling that there isn't a fighter in the UFC who can stop his takedowns. GSP has strong enough striking to weather Alves' storm and take him down to ground out a TKO. I give Alves three rounds before his fatigue kicks in. GSP via 3rd round TKO.
Frank Mir vs Brock Lesnar
Brock is overrated. He gets a title shot after lay'in paying a gatekeeper in Heath Herring, then beats up a 45 year old who hadn't fought in over a year, and all of a sudden he's the king of the hill. Frank Mir is back to the form he was in before his almost fatal motorcycle crash. I think Mir vs Motorcycle 2 would be a better fight then this one. Look for Mir to take down the beast Lesnar and submit him in the 1st Rnd. If Lesnar does win this won, he will win my respect with it.
