Alexander Ovechkin has revitalized hockey in the Washington DC area. As of now he is basically the Michael Jordan of hockey and he belongs to our Washington Capitals. Well yesterday Ovechkin took another step toward greatness as he received the Hart trophy which goes to the MVP of the NHL season. This will be his second straight year winning the award and he is the only person to do this since Dominik Hasek did 11 years ago. He was also won the award for most points, he has the most goals award and he was also won the MVP from the players of the league. So DMV we do have a true superstar in our midst who we will enjoy for many years to come. Check out dude's stats from last year and this year:

This year Last year

56         goals       65

54        assists       47

110       points      112

The Michael Jordan of hockey? I'm not exactly a Jordan fan, but that's an insult to Jordan, not to mention Gretzky, Lemieux and a host of other hockey legends. NONE of the current guys in the debate over who's the best right now conversation should be mentioned in the same breath as the Gretzky's and Lemieux's. Maybe someday, but that day's still quite away off.

No disrespect to those greats. Was talking about the young Jordan that lead the league in scoring and excitement back in the day. Can't compare Ovechkin with those greats until his career is over...
