The new Mistake on the Lake, 21st century style, is Mr. Shaquille O'Neal. He will join the Cleveland Cavaliers next NBA season and try to do what others have failed to do in the last 50 years, bring a professional sports championship to the city that 'Rocks and Rolls'. Don't hold your breath Cleveland fans it's not likely to happen any time soon. If you are a betting person I recommend you put your hard earned money on a team that has 2 legit scoring threats night in and night out and in Cleveland the Cavaliers will still have Lebron James and a bunch of secondary players who can only give u 25 or more points every 'blue moon'

Shaq is an upgrade from their current 'center' Zylgaukis but that's not saying much considering 'Z' wouldn't/couldn't start on a WNBA team. O'neal does not command the double team like he did in his prime but he will command some attention and that should free up Lebron to score a few more points (so instead of Lebron averaging 29 pts. next season he'll now avg. 31...can u smell the sarcasm in this sentence?)

What Shaq will do in Cleveland is what he did Phoenix, slow down the tempo of a  team that likes to run and keep their opponent imbalanced while at the same time clogging up the middle/paint which in turn makes it difficult for his teammates to penetrate towards the basket and get easy baskets/fouls. Every team Shaq has landed on he's been a model of inconsistency-laziness-selfishness-and not an ounce of court-skill improvement. Next season Shaq might show a burst of energy and willingness to play for a game here and there but for the most part he'll be focusing his energy on doing the bare minimum while 'riding the coat-tails' of LBJ, and if he's lucky he might steal another championship ring like he did in Miami with Dwayne Wade

Shaqs flies into Cleveland this offseason wit a bit more momentum than in past years because he actually showed up for a few games last season with the Phoenix Suns and played with some passion; but that 'act' doesn't fool me. Come next year when Lebron is readying himself to sign a long term contract with the soon to be 'Roc-a-Fella Brooklyn Nets', Shaq will be twittering Dwight Howard trying to figure out how he can re-unite with the team that drafted him out of college; hopefully nobody will pay the 'Big Piggy-Backer' any mind

On a tangent, with Shaq almost certain to be on another team after one season with the Cavs (assuming he doesn't retire), does his late career NBA tour tarnish his legacy? That would be 5 teams in a 9 year span, and on each one of those teams (possibly aside from his 2010 destination), he was paired with a guy that has an MVP on his resume, and in all cases so far, it's ended badly.

Your a moron Shaq averaged almost 19pts. 8 rebounds, 2 blks, how can you actaully say laziness, selfishness, and inconsistency those seem like pretty good stats for a for a what 36 year old man. As for Z he would and could start for any NBA team (no i didn forget the W) he has shooting abilities no center can really match.(outside shooting) As for the Suns they dont have a Lebron, Kobe, or Wade to pair with Shaq thats why it didnt work. Imay be wrong but didnt the heat and the lajers win titles with him look at the heat since he left. Where are they NOWHERE. I'm not predicting a championship this year but it will help. Also Mo williams averaged around 20pts. a game and Delonte West averaged around fifteen so you cant say we dont have a scoring threat besides LBJ. Its much better than Larry Hughes or Eric Snow. I belive its a upgrade over Big Ben Wallace who is very good on defense but couldnt make a basket to save his life rather than Big Z

the only nba championships shaq earned as well the only seasons he actually played with heart...translation--the last time shaq played a full season was the last of the 3 championships he won the Lakers...shaq is overrated

first of all tarnish his legacy??? are you f n kidding me? do you not know who shaq is? He would have to be pretty dang horrible these last seasons to tarnish his legacy haha thats all i have to say about that. and everyone that says shaq is overrated yall are crazy just look at his numbers last year and hes what 37? tell me thats overrated. He is still overpowering and outsmarting every big man in the league and your out there saying hes overrated. I want him to go ahead and guarantee a championship in cleveland just like he did in miami (which d wade never could have done without him, but shaq couldnt of dont it without him either) because him and king james will win it next year mark my word.

Shaq does not have half the offensive weapons from years past. no longer can he fade away and hit the baby jumper. Nor can he drive the baseline. Shaq has a short jump hook and the dunk. That's all that is left in his arsenal. It is unfair suggesting he did not give his all at Phoenix last season.
Playing alonside Nash saw his dunks per game increase. And his wide body still makes space for an occasional rebound and follow up dunk. Shaq did his best. By comparison to his old standards he was not that good. Compared to many centers in the league. Shaq still holds his own.
Shaq was better than Dwight Howard at similar points in their careers. In his early years Shaq had guard like foot work. People tend to over look his ability to move. particularly for a guy his size.
Will Shaq be the missing piece and help bring a championship to Clevland. I hope so.
Watching Howard play in the finals showed the world all the skills he does not possess.
He does not have any offensive moves. When he goes to his right, he looks like an old man.
besides a dunk, what are his offensive skills. Now let's look at the other side of the coin. Defensively he is a monster. Rebounding he is a monster. If he develops a little jumper, or a baseline spin move, he will carry the Magic back into the finals. If he does not improve his free throw shooting and add something to his offensive arsenal, the Magic will not get past Lebron and Shaq.
