It looks like Rubio won't play for the Wolves anytime soon.
But I am pretty sure he would come this year if traded to WARM, glitzy, NBA CHAMPION Lakers ;).
So how about Kupchack proposing Bynum-Farmar-Morrison for Love-Rubio?
The Wolves get a know quantity, young PG and a young 7' center with dominant upside to move Jefferson at PF and cash right now on their Rubio pick.
The Lakers solve their frontcourt overcrowding problem by starting Gasol-Odom-Ariza, get a young, solid, affordable back up PF/C, and solve their PG problem with Rubio's speed and defensive sheer will (though way to skinny and unexperienced, but he only needs to produce comes playoff time, and he looks like he has the exuding self-confidence of teenage Kobe).
In essence, you swap a project full of potential for another.
Except that dominant PGs are much easier to find than dominant Cs.
Potentially dominant PG in 2010: Parker, Billups, Paul, Rondo, Nelson, Arenas, Deron, Devin, Brooks, Rose.
Potentially dominant C in 2010: Howard, Gasol, Bynum, Yao (part time), Shaq (part time), that's it!
How will defenses deal with the double light speed penetrating speed and creativity of Kobe AND Rubio with skilled Gasol and Odom in the paint to receive the assists? That might be the only way to break Thibodeau's team defense scheme executed to perfection with a monster heart by a fully healthy Celtics roster.
My dear Lakers, after the Spurs, Cavs and Magic upgraded, and while a two-year older but healthy Celtics team can still probably give you a whole lot of trouble, time has come to take a risk.
Unlikely you will get lucky two years in a row (Garnett and Powe down, one missed layup and one missed FT away from being 1-3 with the next game on the road)...

First of all, it CAN'T happen simply from a $$$ standpoint. Bynum makes way too much now that his extension is kicking in.
Second of all, give Bynum a chance. Prior to the two injuries, he was producing. What you saw in the playoffs was a rusty version who likely didn't have the confidence in his knee back, let alone mobility.

This is like medieval alchemy trading Lead (Love-Rubio) for gold (Bynum-Farmar-Morrison). Seriously Rubio might not play this year and is only 18. Why would a Championship team trade for a player that can't help them win a championship if he doesn't play this year? Also Kevin Love is partly responsible for Kevin Mchale's firing.
???What they did in Memphis is beyond comprehension,??? said Popovich. ???There should be a trade committee that can scratch all trades that make no sense. I just wish I had been on a trade committee that oversees NBA trades. I???d like to elect myself to that committee. I would have voted no to the L.A. trade.??? - Greg Popovich

(At least LA offered more talent all the Spurs offered were scrubs (role players) for Jefferson).
