RON WILSON: 'WE MAY BE GOING AFTER THE SEDINS'

oronto Maple Leafs Head Coach Ron Wilson told Bob McCown on PrimeTime Sports today that the Leafs are looking at going after the Sedin twins when free agency opens on July 1st. "There's a very real possibility we may be going after the Sedins," said Wilson. Henrik and Daniel Sedin are still under contract to the Vancouver Canucks and their exclusive window for negotiating with the twins ends on July 1st. There has been speculation that Leafs GM Brian Burke will make an offer for the two players he drafted in 1999 while he was the GM of Vancouver Canucks. "If these players are available, and we're in the hunt, they're not going to be exclusively talking to us. They're going to be talking to a number of teams," he added. Last season with the Canucks, Daniel scored 31 goals and added 51 assists, while Henrik scored 22 times for a total of 82 points. The twins have reportedly been seeking identical 12-year, $63million dollar contracts from the Canucks. The interview appeared on the FAN590.
