This is the first year I've ever followed the US Open Cup. It's an interesting setup with lower leagues beginning the single elimination tournament. MLS teams join in at round 3 and are usually more likely to win their matches. But of course that isn't always the case. In fact this year, there were a lot of upsets. Here are the current standings. I got the most up to date information from USOpenCup.com and put together this listing.
So as you can see the Revs lost, Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, and Chivas all lost as well. We will find out tonight how the Houstan Dynamo and Seattle Sounders perform. So it looks like a lot of upset in the cup with a good chance that the cup will go to a non-mls league team.
