Unless you've been living in a cave for the two months, you know that Manny Ramirez will return to the Dodgers lineup on Friday.  Those of you who own Juan Pierre had better be prepared.  At best, Pierre will play 2-3 games a week and even that amount is doubtful.  Ramirez is going to be the everyday leftfielder, Matt Kemp is going to play center, and Andre Ethier will man right.  The Dodgers would love to trade Pierre, but with his pricey contract and with so many teams not wanted to take on salary, it's highly unlikely that the Dodgers could find a match.

Mark Derosa was traded from Cleveland to St. Louis, and then promptly injured his wrist.  He is not expected to miss more than a game or two.  Derosa was traded for relief pitcher Chris Perez and a player to be named later.  Many people are thinking that the Indians could've done better, but the rumor is the player to be named later is a good prospect.  Another question that needs to be asked is what the Indians will do with Kerry Wood.  The Cleveland bullpen as a whole has been a disaster and while Wood hasn't been terrible, he hasn't been good either.  He is signed for $10.5 million for 2010.  While that is a high price, teams that are still in contention for this season are always looking for good relief pitching.  Wouldn't Tampa Bay make a lot of sense here - if the Indians would pick up some of the salary?

Adrian Beltre elected to undergo shoulder surgery on Tuesday.  Beltre was playing through the injury but then decided to shut it down.  One has to wonder if Beltre would've fought through the pain had he not been in a contract season.  It's not like the Mariners are out of the race in the American League West.  They are right there and surely could've used his help.

Nate McLouth is still out for the Braves.  Don't you love it when these day to day injuries turn into week to week ones?

Xavier Nady has finally given in and decided to have season ending Tommy John surgery.  Nady, who is also a free agent next season, did everything he could to try and come back and help the Yankees this season.  Unlike my friend Adrian Beltre.

Manny is a fake. His monster stats from last year, which led to his huge contract from the Dodgers, were as real as his hair. Nice extensions , you big phony!
