man. the difference in mentality from shannon brown to trevor ariza really is amazing to me. both came to the lakers as unproven players who hadn't yet established their place in this league. granted ariza has proven himself over a much longer span than brown, i still find it odd that he was so "insulted" by the lakers offer of... what? $5.6 mil? Now i don't know how the conversation went exactly, but i'd have to feel pretty accomplished and entitled to be offended by that kind of offer, only to leave my home town for slightly more pay. i loved him as a player, but have trouble "missing" a guy who throws a hissy fit over $5.6 mil, then signs for something like $6.4 mil per season. If its his agent doing all thi, fire that jackass because thats what he makes his clients look like.
shannon brown on the other hand... here's a guy who just feels like a laker. he lets his game speak on the court (as ariza did) and comes across as an intelligent good guy when he speaks after the game (as ariza did), but he appreciates the opportunity the lakers gave him so much he actually signed in los angeles for less money ($2.1 mil) than he would've recieved from indiana. if you're a true lakers fan you're smiling at that thought. this man has laker blood. i hope i'm right on when i say he reminds me of derek fisher, brian shaw, with a little byron scott sprinkled in there. and i hope the lakers remember his charity when it comes time to re-sign him.
on another note this odom stuff is killing me. think the lakers could have won a championship (much-the-less get out of the 1st round) if they had to lean on bynum for production? maybe, but odom makles bynum a luxury, not a necessity. please lamar, $7-8 mil and we turn your locker into an elevator that goes straight up into your own personal see's candy store built into staples center? come on dr. buss. work your magic.
