It's amazing. Only four of the first round picks have been signed so far. Why is it that players who haven't spent one day in the NFL can get away with this? What a player does in college has no correlation with what he will do in the pros. If that was the case Ryan Leaf would be a Super Bowl winning quarterback instead of a joke who is what? A coach for a high school or junior college team?

Steve Spurrier (Heisman trophy winner) would never have become a coach, because he would be a HOF QB. Instead he was a crummy Niners quarterback, replaced by Steve DeBerg, who was replaced by Montana. As a Niners fan I can list a whole bunch of high draft picks who never panned out. Name one? Heck I can do better than that.

1. Alex Smith (#1 over all, from a gimmick system)

2. J J Stokes (how many draft picks did we trade so we could move up for this guy?)

3.Rashaun Woods (did he ever play?)

I can go on & on. And that's just the Niners. I'm sure other teams have their own list of busts. The point is players holding out before they have ever played a down is greed perpetuated by even greedier agents. Is Akili Smith burning up the league? Oh that's right. he's out of football. Reggie Bush tore up the Pac 10 while at USC. Now he's just an average RB, better known for his reality show girlfriend. Unfortunately, the agents have too much power & the players association too. Not as much as other sports, but still. there should be a maximum wage for rookies, but it will never happen.

I agree completely. Rookies havent even made the roster yet and their holding out for more. These rookies need to get their collective asses to minicamp, be humble, ask questions, and learn. Being a Pats fan it kills me to see unprovens hold out and make more than a proven guy like Ted Bruschi, Kevin Faulk, or Troy Brown (when he was playing). These are good characther guys that will do anything to play football. I do think that once a few more sign that the rest will fall into place. With the financial market being what it is right now, players are waiting to see what the other guy gets before he signs. The question is....whose gonna be the first domino to drop.

Good Luck this season

Rookies better get what they can now, because I think that when the next CBA gets signed there is going to be some kind of rookie salary cap in place that will hopefully stop all of this crap.
