Can you imagine a world without the Madden Curse? What would sports writers blame a down year on? A simple website, created with the consumer in mind, who was probably not thinking what life altering effects it was going to have, is up and running.
Eacustomcovers.com is a website that allows you to print off different variations of the cover art for some of your favorite EA Sports franchises including Madden and NCAA Football. The website displays an assortment of different college and pro athletes that you can print off at home and import into your nearest game box. Of course every packaged game sold in stores will have their cover boy. But who's to say that little Billy in Nebraska, who has Marc Bulger gracing the cover of his Madden 08, isn't jinxing the potential holdout QB just as much as John Madden has done to so many athletes. The list reads like a who's who of the NFL. Barry Sanders, Daunte Culpepper, Marshall Faulk, Michael Vick (still feeling the effects, or the bite...), Ray Lewis, (the only defensive player to grace the cover), Donovan McNabb and Shaun Alexander all felt the pain after being the poster boy of the long running franchise.
So will this be the end of the Madden Curse? Do you and I have the power, nay the will, to change the fate of Vince Young, the '08 man in the line of fire? Can we personally change the minds of the creators of PleaseMaddenDon'tTearApartVinceYoungsTendons.com? Only time will tell.
