There's been a lot of talk lately on FN about soccer's growing popularity in the US, there are however perks that go along with a sport that is actively trying to gain a fan base and support. Tickets are more affordable and closer to the field than most other major league sports. It's been my recent experience that they do more to please you as a fan to keep you coming back, rather than just a body in their stadium (Based off of some recent experiences with the NFL, I'm sure I'll post more about that later.)
My wife and I have purchased mult-game packages earlier this season. We recently recruited a friend to come along, so we picked up a package of tickets for him as well. Just for recruiting him, we recieved free field passes. Those put us down on the field an hour before the game started to watch the teams warm up and slap their hands as they entered the stadium. It was a great experience, one I'm sure we'd never have with any othe major league sport.
Watching Matt Reese practice up close was awesome. Currently one of the best keepers in the MLS in my opinion.
Shalrie Joseph was not in his game that night. Playing in the second half you could tell he just wasn't 100%.
The best part of having field passes was to slap the hands of the players as they entered the stadium. These guys look like pretty average guys from the stands but when you see them up close you realize how much these guys really are athletes. They were solid muscle. Especially the Toronto FC players. We had a great time on the field and then jumped up to take some seats in The Fort for the game.
Most of the shots we took were of warm ups down on the field, but I did snap a couple of the game itself from our view in The Fort. It was a very exciting game that ended in a 1-1 tie. Both teams started really strong but as soon as Toronto FC made their goal you could tell it shook the Revs up off of their game. Luckily they came back stronger in the second half to tie it up with multiple chances to take the lead, but Toronto FC was playing strong defense and despite being one man down (player was ejected for recieving 2 yellow cards) they still held off the Rev's offense.
Great game to watch. Really looking forward to going next weekend to watch the Revs take on LA Galaxy.
