The Top 10 summer activities of a NFL-less summer are ...
Number 10: Completed development of a Web browser that completely removes any reference to Brett Favre.
Number 9: Finally accepted, after nearly 18 months, that Super Bowl XLII ended with the score Giants 17 Patriots 14.
Number 8: Realized Commish Roger Goodell is angling for a position with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Number 7: Tried to understand what Eric Mangini accomplished with the Jets that would cause Browns owner Randy Lerner to hire him moments after his firing from Team Green.
Number 6: Laughed and laughed at Oakland Raider team operations, after noticing that only one team has a worse record since 2003 - Detroit. The NFC team with the best record over this period was the Philadelphia Eagles.
Number 5: Wondered if there was a bigger story than Tom Brady making his return after season-ending surgery in 2008? Albert Haynesworth gazillion dollar contract? T.O. to Buffalo? Tony Romo breaking up with Jessica Simpson?
Number 4: Thought about how many names would be on the "list" if NFL players were tested for PED's in 2003. Football doesn't have the suspecting eye, because getting bigger and meaner is what you are supposed to do.
Number 3: Developed a plan for a halfway house NFL team. Players would go straight to this team from jail and/or suspension. The only glitch would be to have the Uniform Committee approve the monitoring devices worn.
Number 2: Watched a few promo videos of Dallas Stadium (in Arlington, Texas). There will be a $90 pizza, as well seats that throw you to the ground after a Cowboy sack.
And the Number 1 summer school activity was to lobby for all NFL players to be given a handgun and license to carry. The NFL wouldn"t even need a Commissioner!
That's what was accomplished this summer, void of NFL games. Enjoy training camps and look forward to Week 1 in a month or so. Don't forget to check this space (Sideline Reflections) for a light-hearted look at the National Football League.

this may sound dumb but how did you get your post to be formatted correctly like this? I only ask because whenever I try and post something it comes out as a giant block of text.

Thanks for reading and commenting Cartier and JC. I agree Cartier, that would be a full time job! JC, all I did was paste it from word (and redo the attributes like *bold* (no underline available)). However, the first half of it was the block of text, but then below that it was all laid out OK, and all I had to do was eliminate whitespace. Try a different browser.
