Hello.
R^3 basically means Rants, Raves, Randomness. That should really cover everything I hope. I probably could have skipped the first two Rs and gone with just Randomness; it would've been more accurate that way. I'm not really expecting anyone to actually read what I write or follow the blog in general. If it happens great, if not no worries. {Does that count as double negative? My kingdom for an editor!}
So what will I write about? Things that catch my attention. Much like Dory in Finding Nemo I'll run off chasing 'shinies'. Though as a Red Sox and NY Jets fan I will probably focus on them more than other things. I will endeavor not to make this a Red Sox blog because that is the last thing that the world needs, another Red Sox blog. Speaking of the Sox I just want to state that I have been following them for approximately thirty four years. *raise hand* I so swear. I am not a band wagon jumper. If I were, would I admit to being a Jets fan? Speaking of them...I've been a Jets fan for about twenty seven years. Ah the good memories that the Jets have given me. {That's sarcasm just in case you missed it.}
So for my first post I'll start with an easy one. The President is 'The First Duffer'. {http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1914663,00.html} I think that is just great. To begin with I have something in common with him, I stink at golf too. However, my favorite thing about is that he "never cuts a corner in golf, say his companions. No mulligans. No five-foot gimme putts on the green. "I've never seen him get to the point where he just picks up," says Marvin Nicholson, the White House trip director and a regular partner. "I've seen him write a 10 down. I've seen him write an 11 down." That is just beautiful. Another good word for it is tenacious. In order for any athlete to reach the professional level that must have a certain level of natural ability. But one of the things that separates average professional players from the truly great is an indomitable spirit that never backs away from a challenge. That same spirit can also allow someone who normally couldn't reach the professional level to not only reach it, but excel. Given a choice about what type player I would want on my team I'll take the tenacious.
