The Detroit Pistons have signed Ben Wallace to a one-year $1.3 million deal, giving him a chance at rejuvination. Though they say they are signing him for a leadership role with a lot less playing time than before, I believe he should and will make his way into the starting line-up. The Pistons are going offensive-minded and Ben Wallace can bring back the defensive intensity. Sure he sucked in Chicago and Cleveland, but now that he's back to the city that embraced him, I believe his career will resurrect. Chris Wilcox doesn't deserve to start with his nine points and five rebounds a night. Kwame Brown isn't starter caliber either. I think Ben is one of those players who is only good for one team. Soon other teams shall fear the fro once again. It won't be enough for a ring, but it'll restore the intensity the Pistons were once known for. If he doesn't play, he'll still help the other big men play with more intensity, as they know that if they don't, Ben will take their place.

While this statement is undoubtedly correct, I have a feeling Ben's numbers would pale in comparison if he is given the starting spot. I hear your argument about rejuvenation, but IMHO the sad truth is that Wallace is finished.
