I cannot believe the action that brewed up in tonight's Tigers/Red Sox game.  Rick Porcello was pitching with good stuff and he got tossed just because Kevin Youkilis felt like he was hit on purpose.  He charges the mound, throws his helmet at Porcello, and is ready to attack the rookie.  The good news is, Youkilis failed to hurt Porcello, as when he tried to knock Porcello down, Porcello knocked him down.  Of course Youkilis got ejected because he behaved like a punk and wasn't mature enough to take first base.  Then the umpires felt the need to eject him just because Jackson hit Youkilis last night.  First of all, Jackson's too good of a pitcher to even consider hitting a batter on purpose, and Leyland would never instruct a pitcher to do such a thing!  Also, Cabrera was hit in the second inning on the hand and he had to be taken out of the game because he couldn't swing it affectively afterward.  That pitcher didn't get tossed, so Porcello shouldn't have either.  It was an honest mistake and he was screwed over.  Youkilis deserves to be suspended for about the next three games and the umpires owe the Tigers an apology for tossing Porcello.  Don't they understand what that does to a bullpen early in the game?  At least they tossed Francona for arguing about a failed stealing attempt.  I really wanted to see Boston make the playoffs, but now I hope they all flat on their faces and I want Texas to take the wild card.  No, Red Sox fans, you're not supposed to care that I said that.  I obviously have no affect on the outcome of the race.

Can't disagree more, it look to me that Youk was hit on purpose. On the other hand its obvious to me that Cabrera was hit by accident. Leyland is old school, while he may not tell a player to hit another, he expects it.

With Tigerbait. You need to refresh yourself in the unwritten rules of baseball. To me, this was an instance where those came into play.

You can't compare Porcello's hitting Youkilis in the back, likely to prove himself to his teammates, to Tazawa hitting Cabrera. First of all Cabrera leaned into the pitch and this was only Tazawa's second major league appearance. Second of all Porcello had already given a 'warning' shot to Martinez the inning before. The umpires were in their right to throw Porcello out after those 2 events. I'm sorry that your rookie lost his chance to shine (and he was doing that in the first inning before all this drama) but it is his own fault he was ejected.

I honestly believe Porcello hit youk on accident. Right after he hit him he looked away with frustration that he put a man on plus i don't think he'd hit him if he knew it would get him ejected. As for the blog the ump was about to toss porcello until youk ran at him so the ump ran after youk instead of throwing porcello out.
