As I sit here watching tonight's Brewers game, I can't help but think about all of the craziness that ensued in Miller Park earlier today.  2 huge moves, and one less..wow I'm shocked this didn't happen sooner move.

Let's start with the move that I'm lease surprised with..Bill Hall was essentially cut from the team.  This is absoluletly no shock.  He's been a minimal contributor at best.  Bill basically lost his ability to hit..he's still great defensively, but does nothing for anyone with his bat.  I wish Bill the best, it's really unfortunate he never was able to live up to his contract.  The Brewers are going to take quite a hit here, they still owe Hall a little over 10 million dollars.

Next up I'll talk about the firing of pitching coach, Bill Castro.  Someone had to be scapegoated..and unfortunately it was Bill.  The ;pitching staff up to this point hasn't been good at all.  Bill Castro's firing is on Doug Melvin.  There was little to know big league ready pitching depth down in the minor's..the Brewers philosophy has been to draft a lot of great offensive players..now that's sort of started to change with the drafting of guys like Eric Arnett and Kyle Heckathorn.  As great as Manny Parra and Yovani Gallardo can and will be in the future neither of these guys are aces yet..they needed to go out and get some other veteran arm..because a guy like Jeff Suppan just isn't getting the job done.

Lastly, and in my opinion the most surprising move was JJ Hardy getting sent down to AAA.  I understand why it was done, and I like the move.  Alcides Escobar(the guy who replaces Hardy) can hit lead off and gives the line up some speed..which has been missing since Weeks went down.  I think the organization is hoping for the Manny Parra effect..go down to AAA and come back up playing well.  It feels like JJ Hardy is probably traded this winter, despite the fact that this move probably hurts his trade value.

This winter things are going to change drastically for the Brewers.  I don't think Ken Macha gets fired, but I think lots of things shake up for the Brewers.  A remodeled bullpen..and this might be difficult..but maybe 2 new starting pitchers for the Brewers.  The rest of the year is going to go along way in deciding lots of things.
