WOW what an amazing preseason 31-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys. No dropped passes by anybody, Michael Huff has a big INT, a turnover was created by special teams, good offense and defense; WOW it was just amazing to watch. If I didn't know any better, I would've thought our starters were in the whole game. All the QBs that played looked good as well as the RBs and WRs. There were still some excessive penalties that Coach Cable said need to be worked out, but other than that he said that the team did every thing he wanted them to do in this game. It makes the competition greater in camp and to me that just means we'll be that much better of a football team. I have updated my projected 53 man depth chart. Those of you who read my posts regularly may notice that players I would prefer to start are second, but that's the coach's decision, not mine.

There are some injuries and injury history that will factor in, but this is what I anticipate it will look like. Despite his big play, I still think Michael Huff will be second behind Mitchell, who did not play. However, Huff and Jerome Boyd made a bigger showing than Hiram Eugene, so that puts Eugene on the bubble. Howard is locked in at Will, but Morrison and Brown are both making strong cases to be starters at Mike. Brown is also battling the injured John Alston for the Sam spot which I think Morrison may be fighting for if Coach Cable declares Brown the winner at Mike. It's probably safe to say it is THE END for Sam Williams. At WR, they all looked good in the game, but Nick Miller has been the big talk around camp and may beat out Javon Walker, who did not play, for the 5th and final spot. All the RBs looked good, but Justin Fargas's injury history may force him out with the performance of Louis Rankin. Gary Russell did well too. DB Ricky Manning Jr was added after the game and will probably force John Bowie out of town when it's time to get down to the final 53; John Paul Foshi was let got to make room for Manning. I have Kalif Barnes listed as the starting RT, but his injury could force him off the roster with his missed time. Cable made a big push to sign him, but Henderson has the LT spot solidified. Barnes has never played RT and his absence even though it is injury related may force him out if others shine at RT (he was only signed for 1 year). Jeff Garcia has been out with injury and personal reasons and that has Cable concerned that he may be ready to call it quits. If that is the case then he may have just saved a job for Charlie Frye.
